About Our Color Guard Ensembles

About Our Color Guard Ensembles •

  • The marching band season starts with auditions in the spring and ends in November. Most of our basic flag, weapon, and dance training takes place during this season. We also learn choreography for a ten-minute show that will be performed during halftime at football games and marching band competitions.  The guard performs alongside the marching band and provides a large portion of the visual aspect of the show.

  • After the Marching Band season concludes in November, we begin our Winter Guard season which runs through spring. Our World Guard won the highest honors in Scholastic Open Class in 2007 and was promoted to Scholastic World Class, the most elite class for high school units! The Carmel H.S. World Guard has won 12 IHSCGA World Class State Championships and has won the WGI Scholastic World Class Championship 6 times (2007, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2023).

  • Our JV guard consists of middle school students in grades 6-8 from all Carmel Clay middle schools. Their season normally begins in October and concludes in March. Our JV Guard competes in the local IHSCGA circuit (Indiana High School Color Guard Association).

  • Our cadet guard consists of first year guard members in grades 6-8 from all Carmel Clay middle schools. Their season normally begins in October and concludes in March. Our JV Guard competes in the local IHSCGA circuit (Indiana High School Color Guard Association).
